Item 12
Towards the end of the last millenium, many radio stations, particularly those in America, held phone-in polls to ascertain the favourite records of all time.
Of these, several voted Crispian into the charts. These are the first I know of.
Station WGRR voted on the 500 top oldies artists of the century and 'The Pied Piper' came in at number 270. (Sung by Crispian naturally)
Station WHTT-FM voted on the top 1000 oldies of the millenium and 'The Pied Piper' came in at number 373. (CSP again)
Station WMJI voted on the top 500 songs of all time. 'The Pied Piper' was number 384.
Valley 1045 voted for the top 1000 records of the millenium. The Pied Piper Came in at 735.
In a separate poll of the hits of 1966, Crispian and 'The Pied Piper' came in at number 65.
Not bad results for a song that first charted almost thirtyfive years ago!
Crispian also appears in the US Rock Song Hall Of Fame (1954-1997) He appears at position thirteen (out of twentyfive) for 1966 with 'The Pied Piper'
If you know of more of these poll results, please let us know.
